Friday's Music: Why I Blog

It's hard to believe that I started this blog in June 2007. We had only been a family of 4 for about 3 months at the time. I actually was prompted to start blogging because I loved to read my friend Molly's blog about her family so much. (She doesn't blog anymore. tear)

I don't keep a scrap book. I've tried. But, I am even sad to say that my girls baby books are lacking. GASP! Bad Mom! But, through this blog, I can upload pictures quickly and recap what is going on in our lives. I use this as an outlet. Sometimes it's funny. Sometimes I don't have a lot to say. Sometimes (rarely), it's serious. But, this is my hobby.

I blog mostly about what we have been up to in the Williamson house. Occasionally, I will put some of my thoughts on life on here. (like, here and here) I always wish I could find time to do that more often.

I absolutely love that our family reads this little blog and can stay connected in this crazy life that we are living. My grandparents are my most loyal readers! (Shoutout to GrandDa and DaddyBen!)

I've also made some of my best friends through blogging, Rachel and Tara. And, sometimes it's weird to know that I met my best friend on the internet. (When I went to meet her for the first time, Travis was all weirded out that she would be an ax murderer or something!)

But, more than all of that, I absolutely love to look back on this little blog and travel down memory lane. Sometimes, we all gather on the couch around the iPad and look through the pictures and watch the funny videos of the girls. It's our little digital scrapbook.

Some of their favorite posts include: Catherine's meltdown at Catfish hole, Catherine's fit on the beach, Emma's first time to water ski, Hannah calling herself "Hannah Pooh"....

And the all time favorite of the entire family....this little Friday's Music video of Hannah.

We all watch that thing over and over and laugh every single time! And, that is why I just love our little spot on the internet. Happy Friday!

Weekend Wrap Up: Spring Time Fun

This weekend, we had such a lovely weekend. The weather was nice and we enjoyed it!

Friday night, we went to dinner. Travis talked Emma into eating a jalapeno, (which may or may not have involved bribery...with sno-cones). So, she tried one. She immediately guzzled her root beer to put out the fire that was shooting from her mouth. As we walked out of the restaurant, she said "My tummy hurts." We all kind of laughed and joked about her and the pepper. As soon as we walked outside, she puked in the bushes. Travis felt awful, but Emma immediately said "I feel better...let's go get that sno-cone!" Ha!

Saturday, Travis had to work until mid afternoon. The girls and I hung around the house that morning, watching cartoons and cleaning up. OH...and Catherine played "doggie". She waded up a piece of paper like a ball and we took turns playing fetch with her. (I kid you not)

We have a big play set and trampoline in the backyard and all the ride-on toys you can think of in the front yard, but my girls are CONSTANTLY begging to go play at the park. So, we packed a lunch and headed to the park for a picnic.

After fun at the park, we headed BACK to the sno-cone stand for another sno-cone. We love these things!

Saturday night, we went to dinner at Mojitos with the Browns. We all love going to dinner with them. Rachel and I sat at the end chatting and catching up, while the boys talked and tended to the kids. It was a good night.

Sunday morning, it was church time! I LOVE THEM!

Sunday afternoon, we went to Arvest Ballpark for our first Naturals game of the season. It happened to be kids day, so the kids got a free hot dog, drink and chips. (Of course, they also got cotton candy and dippin' dots.) Catherine danced desperately trying to "be on TV". Emma took over with the camera. And, Hannah got sleepy and took a little mid game nap, (just like home!) It was SUCH  fun ending to our weekend!

Friday's Music: The Color Pink

So, if you have read this blog very long, you know I LOVE music. Travis loves music. My girls love music. Whether we are dancing in the kitchen, praising God on Sunday morning, jamming out in the car or headed to George's for a Red Dirt Concert....we are a music loving family.

I remember as a kid my parents loving music. My grandpa can play the guitar like a boss and I am pretty sure my dad can play the banjo. (I kid you not people...the BANJO!)

I am not sure why I love it so much, but I especially love a song that relates so perfectly to my little life or my family that I feel like it was written for us. So, as a part of my attempt at blogging more, I thought that I would start "Friday's Music". I'll share a little of what I'm listening to or what gets us going in the mornings on here.

It thrilled me when my SIL, Nicole, sent me a text with the link to a youtube video for a song with the comment "This song is Travis made over!"

I listened to the song and got all teary-eyed. Because...yes...this is my sweet, mans-man, three-daughter-loving, prissy-wife-having husband to a T!

Happy Friday!

Surprise Party

So, for about 2 years, I have been demanding reminding everyone that I wanted a surprise 30th Birthday Party with a band. (Just a small request, right?)

Well, my birthday came and went. We had a nice family weekend at the races. I had a great dinner with my friends. But...no surprise party. I knew everyone was busy and I had been traveling like a crazy woman for work. So, it wasn't THAT big of a deal. (I mean...I was a little disappointed, but there was always next year, right?)

Friday night, I was directed to get dressed up and wear my cowboy boots. Travis told me we were going to Tara's, but I figured it was just a low key dinner on the patio. So, I did as I was instructed. Boy was I surprised. We pulled up and there were a lot of cars, but most I didn't even put together who they belonged to. We walked into Tara's house and out into the back yard full of my sweet family and friends....AND A BAND!

I was SHOCKED! The decorations were beautiful. We had BBQ for dinner and cake. It was such a fun night dancing and singing with all those I love so! They made me feel so special and I think everyone had a great time.

Thanks, everyone, for making this a night I will never forget. (Let's do it again!)
