Thanksgiving 2012: Dallas Trip

Our Thanksgiving fun continued with a girls trip to Dallas on Friday. We got up and headed out of town about 10am. My mom told my dad all she wanted for her birthday (which is December 1st) was a trip with the girls of the family to Dallas. (Unfortunately, Nicole couldn't come because she had other family things going on).

We got to Dallas and checked into our hotel. We stayed at the Westin that is attached to the galleria. So, we parked the car and never used it again until Sunday! Our room had an American Doll bed for the girls' dolls.

After a little shopping,  we went to dinner at Mi Cocina and let the girls ice skate. Catherine decided she didn't want to, so we just watched "the sisters" skate and fall.

Hannah would get going and laugh. The laughing would make her fall. The falling would make her laugh harder...it was a vicious cycle. Emma was a little leery at first, but she actually caught on and did really great for her first time. They both loved it!

After that, we were exhausted. So, we headed back to our room to get ready for bed. What fun is a hotel stay without new matching PJs?

Saturday, we slept until about 8:30, which is late for my girls. We got ready and headed to breakfast. Catherine walked into a glass wall that she thought was the doorway. It was hilarious and the highlight of breakfast!

(Notice a trend...we are pretty clumsy in our family!)

Saturday, we shopped until we dropped. The girls had a blast shopping and were SO good. We took a late nap and got ready for dinner. This was THE night...the night the girls had been so patiently waiting for. We went to dinner at the American Girl Bistro!

The girls had so much fun laughing and "feeding" their dolls. Then, we went downstairs and browsed the store. The girls picked out one outfit for their dolls and completely over-hauled their Christmas lists to include American Girl things.

Then, it was back to the hotel room to get ready for bed...and another set of new matching PJs!

We had so much fun and decided we should make it an annual trip!

Thanksgiving 2012

I just love Thanksgiving. It's like the "kick-off" to the holiday season with so much family fun packed into the next month. Not to mention, we have SO much to be thankful for.

Tuesday, Catherine and I picked up "the sisters" from school. (That's what Catherine calls them...and I love it!). We had the car loaded with bags and snacks for the road and we headed to Hot Springs.

Once we got there, we had yummy drinks and dinner. Then, we sat around laughing at Daddy Brooks and his many impersonations. I actually caught his "French" accent on camera. You.are.welcome.

Wednesday, my mom and I tag teamed playing with the girls in between working from her house. Wednesday evening, we went to dinner at the Country Club, hello fried chicken night, and headed to Garvan Gardens to enjoy the lights.

We got there and I snapped two pictures. Emma took off running to a tree with green lights that she wanted me to take her picture in front of. But, in the process, her feet got tangled up and she bit the dust...literally. She fell and broke her fall with her face. (Safe to say she gets her grace from her mother.) Poor girl was such a trooper.

My dad scooped her up and covered her face to stop the bleeding for the walk to the front, luckily we weren't far. Hannah and Catherine were screaming and crying more than Emma because it scared them. I was a couple of steps behind my dad and saw a girl and guy stop and start to go after him. It took about 2 seconds to realize they thought he was kidnapping her. A big man, covering a crying little girl's face and dragging her out...yeah...didn't look good. I explained what happened to them and am actually very thankful there are people in this world who pay attention to things like that and are willing to take action.

So, we cut our adventure short and headed home to doctor Emma's face and go to bed.

Thursday, the girls and I got up and got ready to head to DeQueen for Thanksgiving lunch with Travis's Mimi and the rest of his family. Travis hunts the first part of the week of Thanksgiving, so we meet him there. We always have so much fun visiting them. They live on a farm and the girls love the cows, horses and dogs. (I forgot my camera...and my phone...BAD BONI!)

Thursday evening, we headed back to Hot Springs for Thanksgiving dinner. My grandparents came over and Jon and Nicole came. We ate, visited and played Sequence. It was a busy and fun day!

Stay tuned for more Thanksgiving excitement...

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend, was a lazy, fun filled weekend, per the usual!

Friday, we started off with Emma's Thanksgiving Feast. Every year, the third grade students do a deep dive into life as Pilgrim Children. In conjunction with that, the kids cook a Thanksgiving feast and serve their parents like the Pilgrim Children did. (Hoping this transitions to home)

Saturday, we got up and spent some much needed time on the couch watch cartoons and just being lazy. Then, we decided to clean out the girls' rooms. We had a big talk about giving hearts and children who are not as fortunate as they are. Then, we tackled the rooms.

Saturday night, we finally got out of our PJs got dressed and headed to La Huerta for Abby's birthday party. Tara took fantastic pictures.

After La Huerta, Tara took Claire, Emma and Hannah for a sleepover at her house. My girls LOVE Tara. They love spending the night at her house and LOVE dressing up in her clothes.

Catherine and I went home and had popcorn, cheetos and peanut butter M&Ms (at Catherine's request) and watched a movie. It was fun to get some 1-on-1 time with her. (Travis was hunting).

Sunday, we finished the big clean out and got ready for the short week. Monday, Hannah had a Thanksgiving Program at school. Hannah and her friend, Reese, got to introduce the play to the parents. They are the cutest little things and Hannah did great! She loves being on the stage!

Hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving!
