Major Meltdown

First, a little background on my children. Emma, my dear, sweet Emma...she is mild mannered, semi-quiet and never NEVER throws fits. She is my tender hearted child. Hannah, my wild one...now she can throw a fit. She knows how to throw and fit and isn't' afraid to do so.

That being said, imagine my surprise this morning when Emma had her "meltdown". She got up this morning and laid in our bed while we got ready. I went to her room to get her clothes, so she could get dressed. I guess she knew what I was doing, because she said "Mommy, I want to wear my red dress." I said, "No, Emma. It is way to cold outside to wear that dress."

And the fit began. Emma looked at me and Yelled...I MEAN YELLED "YOU NEVER LET ME WEAR WHAT I WANT TO WEAR!" I was standing in her closet and whipped around to give her a look. She was staring at me like I was the devil.

I honestly, didn't know what to do at that point. I told her "Do NOT speak to your mother like that!" She stormed out. I was shocked...I mean...completely floored!

I stood there and thought, "I should have just let her wear the dress and she would have been cold. Then, she would have learned her lesson." "But, I am supposed to protect her...plus, if I give in now, she will think she can have whatever she wants when she acts like that...NOPE...NOT GIVING IN!"

So, I took her clothes to her, which were some super cute dark wash jeans and a fabulous purple sweater. I told her to get dressed. That's when it got worse. Her response, "NO, I AM NOT WEARING THAT"

So, we had to have a talk about being disrespectful, got a spanking and finally, I just MADE her get dressed. She wouldn't talk to me for the rest of the morning. On the way to school, I asked her what was wrong. She told me that she hated her shoes and she doesn't like blue jeans because they button. (say what!?) I just let that one go....

When I took her to school, I told her bye, kissed her head and told her to have a better day than she was having morning. I guess she is still mad, because she just looked at me and I think daggers shot out of her eyes at me!

I didn't know this kind of stuff started at 4!!!!

Okay, I can comment now. Don't know what was up.

Oh my gosh, I am so scared of those days. I know they'll come, but I just don't know how I will handle them!

I bet by the time you pick her up, she will have COMPLETELY forgotten about it. =)

Just wanted to tell you that I go through that at least once a week and I have boys!!!! It will get better once you have your bluff in on them. Just be glad that she did do what Taylor did. You'll have to read my post about Taylor and what he told his teacher. Just remember that whatever you do at home is an open book when you leave.

I should be giving you words of wisdom, but.......It starts at 4 and NEVER ends!! Or until they move out at least! Ha!

It does get a little better though. Just hang in there and stick to your guns!

Oh Boni, it only gets worse...much, much worse! Sydney is the pickiest child I have ever met. Clothes for school is like WWIII. She hates all shoes except the worn out ones that look like trash and don't match. She is really not a fan of socks, and is with Emma on the jeans. The buttons aren't the problem, they just never fit right for her. They're always too short and too big in the waist. I can't help how the good Lord made her. You'll survive, we'll start a support group! ;)
